Its location is the customize folder for Angband and FAangband and the pref folder for the rest of the variants. Indeed those colds linger still in that region, though they lie hardly more than a hundred leagues north of the Shire. These are a strange, unfriendly people, remnant of the Forodwaith, Men of far-off days, accustomed to the bitter colds of the realm of Morgoth. Diablo Immortal is a mobile and PC tie-in to the Diablo series, taking place. Darth Satan suggests that the ruins of Utumno may lay under the Ice Bay of Forochel, based on this quote about the indigenous people of that region: of Mystery And Yet It Moves Angband Ankh Ankh 2 : Le Cur dOsiris. One fan in this forum offered an alternate theory for Utumno’s location that I thought was pretty interesting. Anyway, the point is that the locations she chose to Utumno happens to be practically the exact same location of Carn Dum (the capital of Angmar in the Third Age.) Whether this was coincidental or purposeful is unclear, but it’s lead many readers to believe that the two places were one in the same (or, rather, that Carn Dum was built on top of the ruins of Utumno.) However there is nothing in Tolkien’s writings to suggest such a thing. Most of these decisions are based on Fonstad’s careful research and close reading of the source material, but it still isn’t infallible. I'll start with some general stuff and then do a detailed. The character isn't done yet, but he's rapidly approaching the confrontation with Sauron/Morgoth, so I figured I'd give some feedback now on the gameplay. One of my favorite things about her maps is also one of the most problematic things - she tends to fill in the blanks that Tolkien left as far as geography and the locations of certain places. Angband was first constructed in the ancient past of Middle-earth, 2 originally as an outlying fortress and armoury to the great northern citadel at Utumno. I recently played a Druid on angband live (and on twitch). The association of Utumno with Carn Dum seems (as far as I can tell) to come from the Karen Wynn Fonstad maps found in the Atlas of Middle Earth. Tolkien tells us that it was a largely underground fortress, and situated north of the Iron Mountains and east of Angband, but its exact location was never described by Tolkien, or shown on any of his maps. ![]() Tolkien, in which Angband is the fortress of Morgoth. Utumno, for those who don’t know, was the original fortress of Morgoth, before the elves ever came to Beleriand or Valinor. Angband is a dungeon-crawling roguelike video game derived from Umoria.
